Health and Social Care Training at LSEC
Health and Social Care is a growing industry in the UK, and is a sector
where qualifications are increasingly being required.
OCR Level 3 Nationals in Health, Social Care & Early
Years were designed to provide a high quality, industry-recognised
qualification for people who want to develop a career in health or social
care. Developed in consultation with the sector, candidates can select to
achieve an individual unit, Certificate, Diploma, or Extended Diploma.
The syllabus at LSEC offers two specialist pathways in
Health or Social Care at Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma Level, and
provides a good starting point for the Common Induction Standards set by
Skills for Care - the development body for the adult social care workforce
in England. |
How do I get to work in Health and Social
Care?It doesn't matter who you are, or how old
you are, somewhere in your community there's a job that you can do helping
others. If you like working with people, health and social care work offers
a worthwhile job that could turn into a rewarding career.
Once you have your qualification, you will find it easier
to find employment in the health and social care sector. Most employers will
want you to be qualified, and increasingly this is becoming a requirement.
As part of the OCR Diploma course LSEC present a full module looking at
career planning - providing skills to help you develop a personal career
plan.
The qualification combines theory, self directed research
and practical learning, and is awarded after successful completion of the
respective number of units for the Certificate (6), Diploma (12) and
Advanced Diploma (18). |
Career Prospects:
Health and social care work is about helping people with their lives. People
who have physical or psychological problems often require practical help
coping with the everyday business of living. Health and social care workers
provide this practical support.
People who are qualified are increasingly playing a vital
role in the fields of Health and Social Care. The National Health Service,
for example, is the largest employer in Western Europe. Once qualified, you
could work in the public sector (Health Service or for a Local Authority) or
in the private sector - a large part of health and care is delivered by the
private sector in England and Wales. Once in employment, there are likely to
be opportunities for further study. PLEASE NOTE: Before starting
work, all social care workers are subject to checks with the Criminal
Records Bureau (CRB) |
